Machanically Sound,Only issues are a couple of Dints in the tank(see pictures),and some surface rust on Rear fender. When I Bought the Bike I was told the Ignition key could be removed when switched on,So I bought a new Ignition Switch,so now there are Two keys for Ign-Switch, and another one for Petrol Filler Cap, And Rear Seat Pad. I also thought Tank decal looked a Bit Boring so I"ve added the Eagle Stickers. in this unmolested, virtually standard state. For those who are not familiar with the Virago, Its easy to handle due to the low seat height and centre of gravity. Its easy to maintain due to the simple engine and shaft drive and has relativly low fuel consumption (50 mpg + is possible) This bike has been well used over the years but well maintained, It starts strongly first time and has a new battery fitted. The engine sounds sweet with no nocks or rattles and has fresh oil. The chrome and polished alloy parts have stood the test of time well although the original `Gold` plating on the timing covers, shock tops etc has tarnished and faded. I have highlighted the cosmetic flaws on the photos as I want to be as honest as possible and they are as follows...Tank has a deep chip and scratch...Seat has a tear about 30mm which has been neatly repaired with vynyl tape and quite hard to see on the photo...Fuel pump has the trim missing...Back rest pad has a couple of small nicks/tears on the top corners...Front mudguard has two small holes drilled in the front edge (dont know why)... I tend to be very picky when it comes to condition and probably not doing the bike justice. which is very very low for the age.The bike has been very well looked after by its previous owners, and its chrome is still in very good shape, it runs beautifully and has no problems, it starts first time on the button and runs great. The bike has a pillion back rest, sissy bars, Crash bars, leather panniers (these are worn and the straps are broken, as you would expect after 15 years! but easy to replace) a Windscreen, haynes manual and I will also throw in the original stock exhaust system, which is very difficult to get hold of, and worth a good few quid! I also have a replacement Downpipe, which is in good condition. The Tyres are also in good shape. The only thing that needs doing to her is a replacement Front brake lever, which was slightly bent when I bought her, but still functions fine. A perfect summer cruiser! 20 years, for last 10 years was just standing in a shed being unused. It was just brought back to life last year with invoice of 400 pounds for new battery, brakes and bearings etc. I have original service book stamped till 17889 miles, old MOTs and invoices, plus old Hays manual. The bike needs attention to its carburettor, I think, because my knowledge only goes as far as fitting new spark plugs, you will get new spark plugs + 2 spares (bought a pack of 4). It starts and drives, everything is working fine, gear change, brakes are normal. But when cold it takes time for second cylinder to kick in and also when driving I get misfire in middle rev range, but before and after that rev range running fine. Bike has shaft drive, custom exhaust, straight handle bars for better handling, custom back rest, metal brake hose. is very slight, at rear mudguard, (under riders seat, cannot really be noticed). 2 previous owners before me, who obviously bought bike for same reason as myself. I bought this bike July 2011 to learn on only,drove it to present mileage (2427),passed test very quickly, & its been garaged & non used since sept 2011. Mileage when i bought it was 941 only. I have all old Mot,s to verify this mileage. Please note that this bike has been off the road for 7 of its registered years, hence the seriously low mileage. I have all other relevant papers. Last Mot expired 3rd march 2012, but as it was un-used & garaged, i had bike "sorned". Hence it had not been run for 8 months until i had it re-Mot,d last month (25th April 2012). It is the only Virago or other cruiser for that matter advertised on eBay that has been used in the rain!!The overall condition of this bike is excellent for its year. It is black but with a silver fleck (only noticeable in sunlight). NO major scratches or dinks. I am sure if you look carefully enough there may be an odd small scratch/mark but a blind man would like to see them! There is NOT any rust on the front mudguard, a common failing on these bikes. There are signs of corrosion on the engine casings, it is 15 years old and has been used. It had a new battery 2 years ago and has recently had 2 quality tyres fitted, approx` 120 miles ago. Extras include, Restricter kit, easy enough to take off but ideal if you have just passed your test, about £200 fitted. Rear carrier and sissy bar, not perfect but nice condition. slightly rarer, late production version which features alloy wheels, teardrop shaped indicators, and a smaller tail-light.The bike has been locally owned and has covered 16,608 Km (approx 10,300 miles).It has the 125cc V-Twin engine.Used daily for short commute to work since buying it in August 2009.New `Continental ContiGo` front tyre fitted recently.Wider handlebars have also been fitted to suit preferred personal riding position - but the original Yamaha Virago bars are included in the sale.Personal opinion is that the bike is very good, but not showroom condition. Plush,well padded seat to cosset my precious posterior, lots of nice chrome to polish on a Sunday...marvelous! | BUT | I live right on the edge of Salisbury Plain and I`ve got a hankering for a trail bke to go play in the dirt so VIRA`s gotta GO... | This bike is in pretty good fettle for a a 22 year old. Paintwork on the tank shows signs of some sort of spill (not too noticable) and the chrome on the aftermarket headlight peak is a bit poor (being picky) but all other paint and chrome is pretty good. The bike is fitted with a pair of JAMA engineering E4 (road legal) stamped exhausts that produce a lovely deep burble on tickover and a satisfying roar during acceleration. A sissy bar/rack so your passenger doesn`t roll out the back door and there`s somewhere to carry your toothbrush. Nice chrome engine bars to protect the cylinders should you ever drop her...though I can`t see that happening, I`ve never ridden an easier bike to manoeuver on the go, or to wheel out of the garage . The bike was resprayed ( done by his collegue as a old favour so it`s not well made), front brake caliper overhauled, new front disc, new pads, rebuilt front forks with new seals. Then the family found out and forced him gently to get rid off the thing. I put Mot on it about two weeks ago. Bike currently on SORN. It`s ready to go but there are few small bits which would require attention in a future. I know that bike from previous owner (I`m a mechanic) and in last two years I replaced for him swingarm with new bearing and spindle, exhaust system with brand new one, brand new starter motor. that it needed was a new battery (due to being unused for over a year) and a new back tyre. It`s fitted with loads of extras such as screen, custom grips, custom mirrors, air cleaner covers, rack, backrest, tool roll etc. There`s even a set of throwovers to go with it. There are also a few spares we`re chucking in. Oil filters, back mudgaurd section, rear wheel etc. There are the usual Virago niggles, the scabby front exhaust downpipe being the main one. The paint is scuffed in a couple of places such as under the tool roll on the back mudgaurd and a little bit on the front mudgaurd too but nothing that detracts from the general appearance of the bike. It starts and runs beautifully and has proved ultra reliable on every journey. The mileage, as far as I`m aware, is genuine but don`t hold me to it. When my wife was riding it we did many rallies all over the uk. Farmyard Party, Rock & Blues, PIL to name but a few. It`ll cruise all day at 70 (on motorways of course) and never misses a beat. Great if you are vertically challenged. My wife is only 5` 2" with short legs and can reach the ground easily on it. I`ve set a sensible reserve in line with other bikes of the same age on here. had one, and he was always the one who looked freshest at the end of long rides, while the rest of us nursed sore backs and aching legs. Not him - he`d been riding in an armchair! Alas, by the time I got to 60 (and my pension payout meant I had the spare cash to go out and buy one) I found my increasingly decrepit frame was less amenable than I`d hoped to the stresses of modern motorcycling, and anything over a 30-mile run would see me shuffling around like a grumpy chimp with a hangover for a day or so afterwards (according to my wife, at least). Drat! Opportunity missed... I bought this Virago in October last year, from a well-known main dealer in Preston, who thoroughly serviced and then MOT`d it before delivery. It`s done just 154 miles since, passing another MOT this morning with no advisories - and performed faultlessly on the 30 mile trip to its test (and yes, I`m now doing the chimp thing thank you very much). Having said that, this bike really is supremely comfortable, especially with the big American style screen I fitted as a sop to my advancing years, while the midsize 535cc vee-twin engine will happily propel the bike and rider along at motorway speeds while keeping road tax and insurance premiums low. or chrome rusting peeling etc ITS NICE AND ORIGINAL as can be seen low miles too 23459 may well go up now the nice weather is here , previous owner replaced the exhaust system has a very nice sound to it , it had a complete service approx 220 miles ago with new oil filter, oil , new plugs, air filter, new battery,new front tyre just fitted last week, brakes checked etc suspension checked no leaks works perfectly , the tyres are excellent as can be seen , every thing works perfectly on the bike ,starts first press of starter button cold or hot a realy nice comfortable cruiser to ride no faults what so ever its mot till may next year flew through mot no advisories have only done 250 miles on it since mot last year terrible i know but am a fair weather biker and last year the weather was awfull not many dry days .it is taxed for 6 months as from 1st of may .also has old mots dateing back to 1998 and some reciepts for small bit n bobs plus the data tagg ,is also data tagged which you can register in your name for a fee ,still has original tool kit and a handbook ,all you need to do is insure it and you can ride it away. am open to offers but not daft ones like 1500 because thats all you have.
